We had a great time at our meeting for brunch at Bob's Tacos on June 6th! Apologies for the delay in posting but between a nice driving vacation and my part-time job, I haven't been too motivated to sit down at a computer in my free time. I am sending this on my phone before another week flies by. I hope all of you are getting a chance to get away and travel a bit. With July over the hump already, let's plan to meet for a social lunch in August. I will post and email with details by early August.
Meeting-wise, we have a vacancy in our 2024 VP position. If you are interested in throwing your name in the hat to serve the rest of this year's term, please let any board member know. This does not push you into the President's spot for next year so don't stress over that.
Barbara says we have about $2,507 in the bank and we will spend in the area of $1,500-1,800 for our December BBQ luncheon. We want a big crowd this year so we get a bigger bang for our buck!
We have a new PO Box in downtown Richmond. Bekki Laskoski asked Jesse Mata for a cost and he offered to donate a permanent box to us! No charge. The name on the box:
Fort Bend County Retirees
310 Morton St. #222
Richmond, Texas 77469
And finally, we discussed hosting a bus trip to a Louisiana casino before the end of the year. It would be open to members and other county retirees, current employees, family and friends first. Then if we still have open seats we can open it to the public. If you have ANY experience with planning one of these trips, let any board member know. Otherwise, we will call a casino and see where that takes us. Be safe and stay cool!
